The Paris is situated right beside the Aladdin, in the middle of the strip and across the road from the Bellagio.  If you want a really romantic dinner (although it will cost you) take your loved one to the Eiffel Tower restaurant. It has a lovely view to the fountains at the Bellagio and you can watch the fountain show while you eat.

The Paris also has a lovely Paris Village Buffet where you'll find the best made-to-order crepes for breakfast (and dinner sometimes.)  Also the Paris has several cafes which offer salads, coffee, sandwiches and incredible French pastries if you're not in the mood for a large meal.

If you want Internet access you can get it in your room but you'll need your own laptop.

Bellagio - If you can afford it, the Bellagio is simply the best of the best. The people that work there however know it so you might get a little attitude.

The Buffet at the Bellagio is all the rage and it is good - especially for seafood and/or meat. It's about $25 a person for dinner which really isn't that much if you consider what you get.  However be prepared to stand in line for it.

If you want to do any celebrity or rich people watching, the Bellagio is the place to do it (not just rich, I mean ULTRA RICH, OIL BARRON RICH - it's a fascinating show in itself).  The Bellagio also has a great little cafe and juice/Gelato shop (if you can find it) that looks out onto the pool gardens.

Caesar's Palace - One word comes to mind with Caesar's Palace (besides Celine) and that is opulence.  Grand opulence.  Nothing else matches it.  Roman columns, lush interior, posh designer stores - and some of the best looking people you'll ever see in your life.

Again, if you can get a fairly good deal online, you'll love this hotel (although it's on par with the Bellagio as far as price).  It does have a lovely heated patio in front of the hotel where you can soak up the sun and people watch while sipping your coffee, hot chocolate, perrier, or whatever.

Caesar's is fun just to walk through and see the pomp and grandeur.  It's next to the Bellagio on the strip.  If you can, go through the mall attached and find the aquariums, you'll probably enjoy it. There's also an Atlantis fountain show at the aquariums you can watch that's fun and free.

New York, New York - This is a fun hotel with a New York city theme that everyone loves.  It's on par with the Paris or Aladdin but it's farther down the the strip so you'll do more walking if you want to see the other hotels on the strip.

It has a roller coaster that goes through the hotel and outside but at around $12.00 a ride it is a bit expensive.  The inside food areas are built like the streets of New York and it's fun to just grab a coffee and explore.

The hotel also has a one-of-a-kind arcade near the rollercoaster area.  This would be a great hotel if your kids are a bit older - they'll love it.  Also a bonus for chocolate lovers: the M&M's store is a couple of steps away on the strip where you can watch a free M&M's movie and buy any kind of M&M's you want.

MGM Grand - Close to New York, New York and at one end of the strip so, again you'll do some walking.  They have a great breakfast buffet though and have lots of classic movie star pictures up, although it is a bit disturbing to have Fred Astaire in the bathroom stall with you.

For those of you looking for great shows - MGM has one of the best: Ka - by Cirque Du Soleil. Tickets are steep ($200+) however many people who see it say the price is worth it. Want free entertainment for the kids? The MGM lion habitat is very popular and is located right inside the hotel.

Treasure Island - On the other end of the strip closer to Caesar's Palace and Mirage. It's the 'party hotel' and caters to people between 20-35. It offers free pirate shows at night (that may not necessarily be suitable for children).

Mirage - One of Steve Wynn's creations that has been credited with ushering in the whole 'luxury resort hotel' craze.  Situated between Caeasar's and Treasure Island, the Mirage offers a spewing Volcano and the famed white tigers.

Venetian - The most beautiful hotel on the strip.  It's breathtaking. Absolutely gorgeous, from the architecture to the cobblestone streets to the elegant moving statues. A favorite is the gondola ride that you can actually take through the hotel.  Very romantic, if you can afford it, the Venetian is one of the best.

The Grand Canal shops have some of the best cafes and shopping in Vegas. The Venetian tailors to the 'more sophisticated' traveler (translation: the very, very, very rich). The rooms are on average of 700 square feet - approximately twice the size of the typical Las Vegas room. If you're looking to mingle with celebrities, try the club Tao - which is a favorite of Paris Hilton.

There are several other great strip hotels as well: the Wynn, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, etc.  And the hotels are always adding something new.  Regardless of where you choose to stay on the strip, remember to do your research before your trip, bring a great pair of running shoes and lots of spending cash! Oh yes, and have fun!

Las Vegas Strip Hotel Review:

So you're going to Las Vegas for the first time and you're wondering where to stay.  Most veteran Las Vegas travellers will advise you to stay at a hotel on the Las Vegas strip if it's your first time.

You'll be in the middle of the action and probably won't have to rent a car since you can walk to most hotels and casinos (driving can be stressful in Vegas, especially if you're not used to it.)

So where should you stay on the strip?  Here's a quick review of some of the best hotels on the strip to help you decide which hotel suits your style (these are just my opinions but it is my website so....):

Aladdin - A little older but still nice and the best bathroom soaker tubs I've ever seen. The rooms are a little dark but you get used to it and the spacious bathroom makes up for it.

If you time it right you can get pretty great discounts on stays at the Aladdin (check around at various online travel agents during the year).

The Aladdin is also right in the middle of the strip across from the Bellagio and beside the Paris hotel, so you can walk to everything fairly easily.

Hungry? The Aladdin has the absolute BEST buffet in Las Vegas - the Spice Market.  The food can't be beaten, even by the Buffet at the Bellagio. It has everything from Mexican to Middle Eastern to Italian to Japanese. And the desserts - don't get me started on the banana cream pie...

Also, if you want Internet access, the Aladdin has one of the best deals on the strip. They have computers in the room (you don't have to bring your laptop, unless you want to) and it's a nominal charge (around $12) for 24 hour internet access - this is very cheap for Vegas.

The Aladdin connects to the Dessert Passage shopping area where you can buy everything from designer duds, to cheap burgers to everyday items like bottled water and bandaids.

Paris - Very nice, especially if you're enraptured by all things French.  However some people have found it to be a little stuffy and it can be overpriced. But if you get a good deal, it's well worth the stay.
